Release Notes:

Graduation's pre-leak talk wasn't as substantive as it was with Kanye West's
first two albums. As with just about any other artist's third album, it had to
be expected. The College Dropout was one of the most anticipated debuts of the
early 2000s, while Late Registration had people wondering why Kanye would feel
the need to work so extensively with multi-instrumentalist rock producer Jon
Brion (the J Dilla of the chamberlin) and whether or not Kanye's hubristic
tendencies would get the better of it. With Graduation, there was Takashi
Murakami's artwork, a silly first-week sales competition with the decreasingly
relevant 50 Cent, and chatter about synthesizers running wild. That was about
it, but it all seemed loud and prevalent, due in part to a lack of high-profile
rap albums released in 2007. Graduation is neither as bold nor as scattered as
The College Dropout, and it's neither as extroverted nor as sonically rich as
Late Registration. Kanye still makes up for his shortcomings as an MC and
lyricist by remaining charmingly clumsy, frequently dealing nonsense through
suspect rhyme schemes: "I never be picture-perfect Beyoncé/Be light as Al B. or
black as Chauncey/Remember him from Blackstreet, he was black as the street
was/I never be laid-back as this beat was." The songs that are thematically
distanced, introspective, and/or wary -- there are many of them -- are, in turn,
made more palatable than insufferable. That his humor remains a constant is a
crucial aspect of the album, especially considering that most other MCs would
sound embittered and hostile if they were handling similar subjects, like haters
new and old, being a braggart with a persistent underdog complex, getting
wrapped up in spending and flaunting, and the many hassles of being a hedonist.
Those who have admired Kanye as a sharp producer while detesting him as an inept
MC might find the gleaming synth sprites, as heard most prominently throughout
"Flashing Lights" and "Stronger," to be one of the most glaring deal-breakers in
hip-hop history. Though the synthesizer use marks a clear, conscious diversion
from Kanye's past productions, highlights like "I Wonder," "The Glory," and
"Everything I Am" are deeply rooted in the Kanye of old, using
nostalgia-inducing samples, elegant pianos and strings, and gospel choirs. So,
no, he's not dreaming of fronting A Flock of Seagulls or joining Daft Punk. He's
being his shrewd, occasionally foolish, and adventurous self.

There's a period of approximately 3 minutes of silence following 04m47s in track
13; that's how our retail came. We didn't edit it out to keep this rip as close
to the retail version as possible. They probably wanted to make the bonus track
appear 'hidden' or whatever.

Beautiful artwork deserves scanning. Lame 3.98b5 encode. We strongly urge the
rules changed to allow Lame 3.98 when the final version hits. Higher bitrates
(ala 3.90 rates), and the not-so-rare distortion that came with 3.97 for the
most part is fixed. Consider it 3.90 with --vbr-new speeds, with better high
end.

Release Notes:

Producer Kanye West's highlight reels were stacking up exponentially when his
solo debut for Roc-a-Fella was released, after numerous delays and a handful of
suspense-building underground mixes. The week The College Dropout came out,
three singles featuring his handiwork were in the Top 20, including his own
"Through the Wire." A daring way to introduce himself to the masses as an MC,
the enterprising West recorded the song during his recovery from a car wreck
that nearly took his life -- while his jaw was wired shut. Heartbreaking and
hysterical ("There's been an accident like Geico/They thought I was burnt up
like Pepsi did Michael"), and wrapped around the helium chirp of the pitched-up
chorus from Chaka Khan's "Through the Fire," the song and accompanying video
couldn't have forged his dual status as underdog and champion any better. All of
this momentum keeps rolling through The College Dropout, an album that's nearly
as phenomenal as the boastful West has led everyone to believe. The bad points?
A few too many skits, "The New Workout Plan," and the fact that the triumph that
is "Through the Wire" is de-emphasized and placed so deep into the album that
it's almost anticlimactic. Apart from this? Abundant hotness in every aspect.
From a production standpoint, nothing here tops recent conquests like Alicia
Keys' "You Don't Know My Name" or Talib Kweli's "Get By," but he's consistently
potent and tempers his familiar characteristics -- high-pitched soul samples,
gospel elements -- by tweaking them and not using them as a crutch. Even though
those with their ears to the street knew West could excel as an MC, he has used
this album as an opportunity to prove his less-known skills to a wider audience.
One of the most poignant moments is on "All Falls Down," where the self-effacing
West examines self-consciousness in the context of his community: "Rollies and
Pashas done drive me crazy/I can't even pronounce nothing, yo pass the
Versacey/Then I spent 400 bucks on this just to be like 'Nigga you ain't up on
this'." If the notion that the album runs much deeper than the singles isn't
enough, there's something of a surprising bonus: rather puzzlingly, a slightly
adjusted mix of "Slow Jamz" -- a side-splitting ode to legends of baby-making
soul that originally appeared on Twista's Kamikaze, just before that MC received
his own Roc-a-Fella chain -- also appears. Prior to this album, we were more
than aware that West's stature as a producer was undeniable; now we know that
he's also a remarkably versatile lyricist and a valuable MC.

Normally I won't release an internal if a VBR is already out, but the explosive
crew used an unusual codec for the original rip, 3.96 with -b 128 enabled on the
original rip (props to them to getting this release, btw). Considering this is a
classic, I felt the need to release this with a recommended Lame version from HA.
Enjoy this rip, it's about 2.8MB bigger than the original release, with higher
bitrates on a few tracks, even without a -b switch.

infamous story," Hush said with a smile. "Well, we had a falling out. It
was just over some stupid street crap and we just had a misunderstanding
and got into a fight and my nose got broke."

Hush earned his own deal though Geffen, Interscope’s sister label, by
self-releasing CD’s. His 150 metaphored track, "150 MC’s" where he name
drops 150 MC’s. Hush is a rare act in Hip-Hop these days because he’s
back completely by a band, but his style fit the show The Contender
perfect. With tracks, "Fired Up," "Put Em Down," "All I Got," and
"Adrenaline" running during the entire season.

First Single : "Hush is coming" feat Nate Dogg produced by Eminem.

Enjoy!

RELEASENOTES

Bad pressings...
Back With The Thugz Vol. 2 is like
a breath of fresh air compared to
the first one. With less guest
appearances, a better finished
sound, and more conceptual Bizzy
tracks, this might be the best
Bizzy release of the 3 he has with
Hi Power Music. It is less
commercial than the previous one so
the radio heads may find it too
underground for their tastes, but
Bizzy sounds better on this than he
has with any other underground
project.
Tracks like "Put Yo Hands Up",
"Fire, Fire, Fire", and "Not Scary"
bring out an aggressive and sober
sounding Bizzy, while "Dedicated 2
The Military" offers a chilling
vision of war on the streets and
overseas. Bizzy saves his smooth
and emotional side for the final 2
tracks, but stays away from
anything even resembling
commercialism.
Back With The Thugz 2 is Bizzy's
most hardcore album ever. Though
his metaphorical lyrics may still
be hard to decipher, he doesn't
seem as spaced out as he has on
other recent projects. This is a
west coast influenced street album
every step of the way, and long
time Bizzy Bone fans will
appreciate this album for being
different than his 16 other albums.

[ Rip Notes ]

Well, what to say. After bringing you the biggest release
of 1999 a few days ago, Mariah Carey's Rainbow, Team RNS
strikes again and brings you the most anticipated hip-hop
album of the decade. It's been a long wait (since 1992, in
fact), but RNS is here to ease your pain by bringing you
this title nearly 3 weeks before its much delayed street
date. Needless to say, the album has been closely guarded,
which is why we were unable to bring it to you before now,
but as everyone expected, RNS pulled through in the end.

I originally hadn't planned to say anything about the album
itself, but I will just take a moment to say that this is
arguably one of the best hip-hop albums I've ever heard. If
you agree with me, and I'm quite sure that you will, I urge
you to support this artist by purchasing his album once it
is available in stores.

To our friends in other groups who have felt compelled to
disband, unable to deal with the iron fist that is RNS, our
warmest wishes to you in whatever ventures you may pursue.
To those hoping to create an MP3 supergroup, may I remind
you, one already exists... we call it RNS. While we herald
the existence of a new group of friends interested in
cooperation rather than competition, we also hope they
haven't lost touch with reality.

Much respect to G. Litt for helping Team RNS get the hookup
like Master P... all the haters need to recognize and stop
talking so much bullshit. Get your foot out of your mouth
before I replace it with my own.

Team RNS would like to offer a very warm welcome to some of
our newest members, including Darwin, Oipunk, Quipster,
V-MaN, RichyRich, DJPhenomenon, and Krenz. We know you wil
all become invaluable members of our team.

TEAM RNS - RUNNING THE MP3 SCENE FOR THE NEXT MILLENNIUM
